Robotics & Engineering At Potential!
Within hours of announcing our newest addition to after school activities, Mr. Garay's Potential Engineers Robotics Club was full. A waiting list was created and a second section added the following day! Many students that have not taken part in after school clubs in the past, jumped on this opportunity. We are excited and blessed to have Mr. Garay on the team. The passion he has for helping students reach their potential, through his love of robotics, math and engineering, will create a flourishing program. Here is a fun promo clip from LEGO Education.

Missionaries in 5th Grade
Hi Potential Christian Academy! Just wanted to update you on Mrs. Poyet's awesome 5th Grade class! Recently they had a visit from... Don Don Na Nah! Nah Nah! They are Mrs. Poyet's parents! Mr. Rex and Mrs. Brenda! They came for a visit a few days ago! The Morgans have been missionaries in Papua New Guinea, and here locally in Hialeah.
Mr. Rex showed the class a really cool slide show about Latin America, his TV show, and radio broadcast. It was cool! Then Mr. Rex let some students record a little advertisement about being a missionary. In the end the whole class made a little show. You can listen to it!
We had a great visit from Mr. and Mrs. Morgan!
Reporting from Mrs. Poyet's 5th Grade Class, this has been Emily Welch!

You Become Who You Spend Time With
Growing up in the Hewlett house, my dad was full of wisdom and powerful quotes.....and we were constantly reminded of it! Back then it was a bit of a pain, but now I am thankful for all that I learned from him. A couple statements he loved included: "Remember who's you are" and "You become who you spend time with." Mom, dad, grandparents, it is so important that we be closely involved in the lives of our children. We need to know their friends, real and virtual. In my youth, all my friends were real. If you had 'Virtual' friends, it meant they existed in your head, and then you were a little strange! Today 'virtual' friends and relationships are all over. Maybe through text, facebook, blogs or myriad other social media sources.
"You become who you spend time with" takes on a much expanded meaning for todays children. Dr. Bob Barnes wrote in a recent blog post: "Comments, as well as, pictures/videos that are posted can damage their future. Even comments that friends make on their pages reflect who they are." I encourage you to read his entire entry, and invest time in thinking about how you can both protect and grow your child in this age of social media and virtual friends.

Family and friends of FRCA, as well as many Disney guests filled the

support.
And much gratitude to Mr. S., and Ms. Jenny for preparing our students
for success. Mrs. Perez, well, without her this trip would not have
happened. Thank you to our chaperones for keeping our children safe.
May God continue to bless, and allow for many more opportunities to
honor Him with our gifts.

Easter At FRCA
What an amazing Easter at FRCA! We kicked off the celebration with 15
students getting baptized at a special service held in our courtyard!
And over the weekend, more than 5 other students and parents got
baptized. These families from FRCA were joined by more than 600 others that took the step of baptism at FRC during Easter weekend!
God was stirring in the hearts of thousands this weekend. We had
25,000 in attendance, and over 1,600 decisions for Christ! He is risen
indeed! This picture is from our Easter sunrise baptism. How awesome
it was to take a few moments to pause, and appreciate God's beautiful
creation.

Royalty - Chapel Connection
We are kicking off our brand new series in The Dream Factory called "Royalty." The children will be studying Philippians and learning what it means to be God's children: Princes and Princesses! This series will challenge and encourage your child to reach their God-potential by learning how to live like Royalty. We are so excited to see what God is going to do in all of the students during the next couple weeks as we all begin to live like Royalty!
Today, we are going to begin with a lesson about being children of the King, what that means and how we should live as God's children. Our goal is to partner with your family by providing an opportunity to have a conversation with your child about The Dream Factory and what we are studying. A purple paper will be going home today that has notes from today's teaching. Included are Bible verses, main points, and questions for your child to answer based on the teaching. We encourage you to talk with your child about what they learned and how they can apply it to their lives. Don't miss out on the opportunity to help your child grow in Christ!
Check your email, and your child's book bag for The Dream Factory Home Connection.
After you have discussed the verses and questions with your child, share your comments here on this blog site!

100th DAY!
You experienced quite a treat this morning if you were around FRCA! Students with all kinds of crazy outfits, and uniforms decorated like something out of Dr. Seuss. With all the "100 year olds" walking with canes, you would think it was Grandparent's Academy! Teachers even got into the act with "colorful" clothing combinations, white hair, curlers and glasses. Nicki Sprecklemeier was the 100th student to arrive at school. He received balloons and some sweet gifts.
FRCA Service Club has been collecting "100 Pennies For Haiti" from students. Over the last two weeks, FRCA students filled water bottles with "100 Pennies". The money collected is being donated to Feed My Starving Children, the same organization that we made meals for Haiti with. Based on early estimates, our students will raise well over $250 for Haiti. We are proud of our students and families positive attitude of service.
Fun was had by all. Thank you for celebrating the 100th Day of school with us.

What A COOL Week!
Yes, actually so cool we nearly froze here in South Florida! While it was pretty cold, the weather forecasters made us feel kind of wimpy. With temp's in the mid-30's, they were talking about wind chill in the 20's. I didn't ever think about the "wind chill factor" kicking in until it was well below freezing. And I am not sure "wind chill" should be a recognized term in South Florida! Is it really right for South Floridians to discuss the impending doom of "wind chill", when other states are hitting sub-zero temps? Hmm, interesting. When we have hurricane force winds, do the reporters say, "It is 80 degrees today, but with the 100mph winds, the "wind chill" is 68 degrees."?
So the question I pose to FRCA students and parents is: When is it acceptable to use the term 'wind chill'? Is there a temperature point, or maybe a temperature differential?
FRCA students and teachers had an 'Arctic' blast with the cold weather. Many classes enjoyed snow days filled with hot chocolate, 'snow writing', and lessons about snow flakes....have you ever pondered the snowflake? How God designed each beautiful, glistening flake as a unique piece of art. How mighty our Creator, not one single flake is the same as another! Just like God created you and me, and every other person; we are unique and special in our design. We each have unique characteristics, for which God has a special and unique life-plan! Wow!
Search the web, ask your teacher, find the answer to the question: When is it acceptable to use the term 'wind chill'? Is there a temperature point, or maybe a temperature differential?
Popsicles to the first class that gives Mr. Hewlett the answer and the verifiable resource used. Post your answer here!
